Indoor Positioning for Moving Target Based on Active Infrared

  • Aiming at the application needs of moving target positioning in indoor space without global positioning system (GPS), In this study, we propose a real-time positioning method for regionalization and visualization based on active infrared technology for use in situations without wireless connectivity or grid power. We establish a mathematical model to connect multiple infrared positioning devices to form infrared positioning regions. We then apply a genetic algorithm to minimize the time required to establish a group of infrared positioning regions. The proposed approach solves the problem of connecting multiple infrared positioning devices to form positioning regions. At the same time, an experimental prototype was assembled to verify the rationality and effectiveness of the mathematical model. The experimental results show that the proposed method can be executed in real time to reliably detects the position of moving targets in GPS-denied indoor environments, and it also provides a visualization of the target for the operator. Thus, the proposed method has good prospects to be implemented in practical applications.
