双平台直方图均衡改进算法及其FPGA实现

Improved Dual-platform Histogram Equalization Algorithm and Its Implementation on FPGA

  • 摘要: 在红外图像的应用中,使用图像增强算法来改进图像的视觉效果,更加有利于图像分析与观察。为了提升红外图像增强效果,同时实现算法工程应用,对复杂算法进行优化处理并进行工程设计是十分必要的。本文以双平台直方图均衡图像增强算法为基础,研究了改进方法,通过设置第三阈值的方式来辅助直方图修正,以此凸显红外图像细节并调节图像灰度,获得了较好的图像增强效果。在此基础上,本文设计了算法对应的FPGA实现方案,通过分时复用RAM和前后帧数据共享的方式,实现了该直方图类图像增强算法。通过不同的图像效果对比,证明了本文方法的有效性以及FPGA设计方案的可行性。

     

    Abstract: In applications of infrared images, using image enhancement algorithms to improve the visual effect of images is more conducive to image analysis and observation. In order to improve the infrared image enhancement effect and achieve the engineering application of algorithms, it is necessary to optimize complex algorithms and conduct engineering design. This study investigated an improved method based on the dual-platform histogram algorithm. This method sets a third threshold to assist in histogram adjustment, which can help highlight the details of the infrared image and adjust the grayscale of the images, resulting in a better image enhancement effect. A field-programmable gate array (FPGA) implementation scheme was designed based on this approach. In this scheme, an improved histogram enhancement algorithm is realized by using time division multiplex RAM and sharing data between the previous and subsequent frame. A comparison of different images demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed method and the feasibility of the FPGA scheme.
