Abstract:
In applications of infrared images, using image enhancement algorithms to improve the visual effect of images is more conducive to image analysis and observation. In order to improve the infrared image enhancement effect and achieve the engineering application of algorithms, it is necessary to optimize complex algorithms and conduct engineering design. This study investigated an improved method based on the dual-platform histogram algorithm. This method sets a third threshold to assist in histogram adjustment, which can help highlight the details of the infrared image and adjust the grayscale of the images, resulting in a better image enhancement effect. A field-programmable gate array (FPGA) implementation scheme was designed based on this approach. In this scheme, an improved histogram enhancement algorithm is realized by using time division multiplex RAM and sharing data between the previous and subsequent frame. A comparison of different images demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed method and the feasibility of the FPGA scheme.
